The flagship store of luxury electric cars Karma Automotive, located in the American city of Newport beach, began accepting payment for cars in bitcoins.
“We launched our platform to test the use of cryptocurrencies in practice. The Karma flagship store supported our initiative to introduce new technologies and provided customers with the opportunity to pay in bitcoins,” said karma CEO Lance Zhou.
Karma was bought out in 2014 from the previous owner of Fisker Automotive by the Chinese Wanxiang group. Already in 2016, production began on the flagship Revero hybrid car, which costs $135,000. The sports car can travel up to 60 km on electric traction.
At the end of last year, an Audi dealer in St. Petersburg started selling cars for cryptocurrencies. Tickets for Norwegian Air flights are also sold for bitcoins. Of course, crypto assets can also be used to pay for more mundane things — meals
or public transport.
